Sonia J. is a Portuguese emergent artist   whose work reflects a transformative journey from a 30-year career as a trailblazing CEO in tech industry to a liberated creative voice in the rural mountains of Portugal - Serra da Estrela.

Leaving behind the corporate world in 2024, Sonia embraced art as a medium to celebrate empowerment, transformation, and the profound beauty of life’s transitions.

Each of my pieces offers a space for discovery, where the observer encounters vibrant colors and unexpected combinations, open to individual interpretation. As a self-taught, non-conventional artist and outsider to traditional art institutions, my work embodies the creativity that flourishes beyond formal techniques. My journey as an abstract painter is deeply personal, shaped by my unique perspective as a 30-year female leader navigating the challenging corporate and entrepreneurial world in the tech industry.

My art celebrates states of mind, corporate and personnal experiences, longings, and memories. It delicately represents themes of female empowerment, transformation, and authenticity. Drawing from my experiences, I merge abstract forms with bold, colorful compositions that reflect freedom, connection to nature, and a return to simplicity—back to rural origins and the essence of being.
